Why this qualification exists

Equine hydrotherapy requires more than surface-level knowledge

Many professionals:

Work with horses alongside therapists or vets

Support rehabilitation or performance programmes

Want to understand hydrotherapy properly, not just operationally

This qualification exists to provide a regulated, theory-only route into equine hydrotherapy principles — one that builds depth, confidence, and professional credibility.

It is designed to help you understand:

Why hydrotherapy is used

How decisions are justified ethically and professionally

When it is appropriate or inappropriate

Without needing access to facilities or supervised clinical hours.

What this qualification supports you to do

This Level 4 Certificate
supports you to:

Develop a solid theoretical understanding of equine hydrotherapy

Understand indications, contraindications, and risk management

Practise ethically and within defined scope

Apply clinical reasoning principles to rehabilitation and performance scenarios

Communicate more confidently within multidisciplinary teams

Prepare for progression to applied qualifications or further study

This qualification focuses on knowledge and understanding, not hands-on delivery.

Who this qualification
is designed for

Entry expectations (non-negotiable)

This is a Level 4 regulated qualification.

Applicants must be:

  • Aged 18 or over
  • Capable of academic study at Level 4
  • Experienced in working with horses in a rehabilitation or performance context

This course builds professional understanding — it does not teach basic equine handling or introductory theory.

I recently completed the Introduction to Equine Hydrotherapy course with Aquaequi and thoroughly enjoyed the day. It was packed with useful, practical information, with plenty of time for discussion around our own cases, which made it highly relevant to clinical practice. Grace was fantastic - approachable, knowledgeable, and genuinely open to questions. I never felt that any question was too small or too basic, which created a really supportive learning environment. We observed a range of horses using the treadmill and were given the opportunity to watch them trot up beforehand - something I found particularly valuable from a clinical assessment perspective. A really insightful and well-delivered course that I’d highly recommend

Exceptional Level 6 Equine Hydrotherapy Training – Aquaequi - This innovative, sector leading Level 6 equine hydrotherapy course has been outstanding. The academic content is rigorous, evidence‑based and clearly aligned with higher‑level study, encouraging critical thinking and a strong understanding of rehabilitation science and clinical decision‑making. Theory is consistently linked to application, building confidence, competence and professional judgement rather than simply teaching protocols. The teaching team are highly knowledgeable, supportive and approachable, providing clear guidance and constructive feedback throughout. The course strikes an excellent balance between academic depth and practical skill development, making it both challenging and highly rewarding. What truly sets the course apart is the quality of the practical training too. Hands‑on sessions are exceptionally well structured, welfare‑focused and directly relevant to real‑world clinical practice. I have learned an enormous amount and would highly recommend this course to anyone seeking a high‑quality, professionally relevant qualification in equine hydrotherapy.

I attended an Equine First Aid course run by AquaEqui at the Unicorn Centre in Stow. The course was incredibly informative and has given me the confidence with horses going forward that I would know what to do if any required first aid. I learnt much more than I thought I would, its surprising how many old wive's tales really aren't true. Their approach to teaching was fun and relaxed, a really easy environment to learn in. The demo horses; Bob and Rupert, were incredibly well behaved and having them available to practice some of the taught skills was really useful. I would recommend Grace and Jenny to anyone and I'm looking forward to any future courses that I may attend with them.
